PARALOS, combining extensive expertise, delivered an innovative, efficient and fully standards-compliant solution with international regulations. The project involved the complete study, engineering, installation, testing, and commissioning of a MV Transformer (1MVA, 20/0.4kV) and a high-reliability frequency converter power system (400/440V, 50/60Hz) for heavy industrial and shipyard operations at ONEX Elefsis Shipyards. The solution was designed to provide continuous, stable, and energy-efficient power supply under demanding operational and transient load conditions.
The installed system was based on two parallel 500 kVA (1 MVA in total) frequency converter modules operating in redundant configuration to maximize system availability and operational reliability. The equipment, manufactured by Piller Group GmbH, incorporated robust thyristor rectifier technology combined with advanced IGBT inverter units, widely recognized for their performance in heavy industry and military-grade applications.
The engineering scope included detailed electrical design, system integration studies, load analysis, protection coordination, functional testing and final commissioning. The installation also featured advanced overload and short-circuit protection capabilities, enabling safe and reliable operation under critical load scenarios while supporting the long-term operational resilience of the shipyard’s electrical infrastructure. |
